History of Tour of Turkey:

Tournament starts by the name of 1st Marmara Tour. (June 11-19, 1963)

Marmara Tour is limited to national participation just as it was in the first year.

The tour won international recognition and this year is accepted as the first year of the Tour of Turkey by the name of the 1st International Marmara Tour.

The physical training officials visited the President Cemal Gursel and they conclude to take the tour under the auspices of the Presidency.

Every effort is made, and the name of the tour becomes the 2nd International Presidency Marmara Cycling Tour.

The word Marmara was removed from the tour name and Turkey’s emphasis was brought to the forefront. In the fourth year of the international arena, the title of the competition eventually became known as the International Presidency Turkey Tour. However, according to some, it is the first year of Turkey Tour with its new name.

The news about the 4th International Presidency Cycling Tour of Turkey was published on this year’s newspapers. However, when it is thought that the tour starts with the name Marmara Tour, it is actually the ninth year of the tour and it is the seventeenth year when the first year of international participation, 1965 is considered as the beginning.

In the following year, the name was written as the 8th International Presidency Cycling Tour of Turkey on the same newspapers and this expression is used in the coming years.

The 53rd Presidency Cycling tour that will be organized this year was promoted by the UCI to the World Tour category.
